  2. Shiva is known as “The Destroyer,” and is one of the three main gods, along with Brahma and Vishnu. People started to worship him in 300BC. He destroys the old and makes room for new life. People thought Shiva spent most of his time meditating. Shiva’s role

  3. The Ganges river, it is said, came out of the head of Shiva, and that made the river holy. People swim in the Ganges if they are ill, so the holy water can make them better. Some pictures of Shiva show him with blue skin because he is the source of the river.

  4. Most Hindus did not eat cows and bulls because they believed they were sacred to Shiva.

  5. Shiva also symbolizes goodness. He is also said to be the angry god and when he opens his third eye for destruction, no one can stop him...
