Myth1: It is impossible for Non-native speakers to get 9 bands in IELTS. • Truth: Band 9 in IELTS shows the expertise level in English Language. So the test is based on language instead of place from where you belong. If you done best in all sections of test you can easily get 9 bands and sometimes it has been observed that native speakers not score 9 bands.
Myth No. 2: Prepare and improve your performance by practicing previous tests of IELTS. • Truth: Most of the students think the best way to improve your performance is to practicing old tests; rather make themselves perfect in all 4 modules. Get familiar with the test once and after this you can work on your weakness. Doing tests makes you feel that you are enough prepared for the final test, but in reality it is not. Prefer listening English news, radio, conversations between 2 English speakers, English songs, movies etc.
Myth No. 3: I will lose marks if I don’t understand the question once in speaking module • Truth: It’s totally a myth. There is no mark lose if you asked the examiner to repeat the questions. As the name clears Speaking; the test is designed to check your speaking skills not the listening skills. Even you can ask the meaning of any word you not able to understand well. You can lose marks only when you are unable to answer it in proper way.
Myth No. 4: I can grab more marks if I take test in my own country • Truth: The biggest myth that most of candidate have is that they can score good in IELTS if they take test in their country. The fact is that the IELTS is same everywhere and not restricted to place or country. It’s true that student score good in their own country but not due to paper is easy but the reason is they feel more comfortable while attempting the exam and this makes your performance good which ultimately affect your score.
Myth No.5: There is repetition of some questions at the specific time of the year • Truth: Don’t think about that because IELTS have highly talented people and have array of questions to ask. According to some students that there are some question which are asked on specific time in the year. You are advised to just concentrate on your preparation and try to do your best to score high in the exam.
