1. AWARDS & STIPENDS APPLY TODAY! As a benefit of membership, the Weight Management Dietetic Practice Group (WM) offers annual opportunities for members to receive stipends and awards. The goal is to enhance practitioners’ skills and promote dietitians in the field of weight management. • STIPENDS* • Professional development stipends of $500 - $1,000 each will be awarded annually for attendance at: • The Obesity Society’s Annual Scientific Meeting (TOS) (1 Stipend): The meeting brings together the leading players in the field of obesity from world-renowned basic and clinical researchers and clinicians to educators, advocates, policy shapers and practitioners. • American Society for Metabolic Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS) (1 Stipend) • This meeting is specifically designed for all clinical and academic surgeons and support staff, including any health professional involved in the care of the obese patient who wishes to increase their knowledge of the surgical and perioperative management of the obese patient. • Certificate of Training in Weight Management (2 Stipends) — various dates and locations. • This program provides cutting edge information and skills shared by leading practitioners in the field. Attendees receive 28 continuing education credits. • ADA Public Policy Workshop Stipends ----Yearly workshop held in the spring • WM Annual Symposium Stipends — Yearly conference held in the spring. • ADA’s Food & Nutrition Conference & Expo (FNCE) Stipends ---- Annual ADA member meeting held each fall. • *Stipend winners are selected by random drawings. Members can submit 1 application per each award. • AWARDS • As another excellent member benefit, we offer two awards honoring excellence and achievement in the field of weight management: • EXCELLENCE IN WEIGHT MANAGEMENT PRACTICE AWARD • Purpose: To recognize individuals who have demonstrated excellence of practice in the area of weight management. • Qualifications: Exceptional performance in weight management practice, contributions to the advancement of weight management practice and leadership in weight management or dietetic-related organizations. • EXCELLENCE IN WEIGHT MANAGEMENT OUTCOMES RESEARCH AWARD • Purpose: To encourage outcomes research by WM members and to promote recognition of this research internally within the WM Dietetic Practice Group and the American Dietetic Association, and externally in the diverse scientific societies that address obesity and weight management.
