  5. MOTORS • OUTBOARD MOTORS ARE A COMPLETE PROPULSION SYSTEM FROM THE ENGINE TO THE PROPELLER. • STERN DRIVES USE A MODIFIED AUTOMOBLE ENGINE MOUNTED INSIDE THE BOAT. • INBOARD ENGINE ARE FOUND ON LARGER BOATS. • JET PUMP DRAWS WATER INSIDE AND PUMPS WATER OUTSIDE AT HIGH RATE OF SPEED.

THEY ALSO MUST BE COAST GUARD APPROVED
