History of Pomegranates • Pomegranates are mentioned in Egyptian mythology and art and often referred to in the Old Testament of the Bible. • The are native to modern day Iran and the Himalayas in northern India.
History of Pomegranates • In ancient times pomegranates were carried by desert caravans for their thirst-quenching juices. • By 1416, pomegranates were brown in drier parts of southeast Asia, Malaya, the East Indies, and tropical Africa.
Pomegranates: The Jewel of Autumn • Pomegranate fruit begins to ripen on trees in the autumn. • BE CAREFUL, THOUGH! Pomegranates can be messy and stain clothes! Be sure to wear an apron when eating pomegranates!
