SEED and Systems Engineering Workshop Systems Engineering Education Discovery project (SEED) (sponsored by NASA HQ ESMD) is designed to “sow the seeds” of Systems Engineering concepts during undergraduate aerospace engineering education. Students have opportunities to participate in SE focused internships, propose reduced gravity flight experiments and take part in the Systems Engineering workshop.
Recognition of team members for System Engineering Workshop • University of Texas and Texas Space Grant Consortium • Lisa Guerra (NASA fellow at UT) • Talia Jurgens • Wally Fowler • NASA HQ (ESMD) • Jerry Hartman • Johnson Space Center • Gail Chapline • Jason Nelson • Helen Lane • Susan White • Robert Musgrove • Kam Lulla - JSC Team Lead
Systems Engineering Workshop Systems Engineering Education Workshop Why have this workshop? ( Purpose) • To disseminate an undergraduate systems engineering curriculum to interested universities operating within NASA’s Space Grant Consortia. • To discuss effectiveness of the pilot systems engineering curriculum activities at The University of Texas at Austin. • To provide an opportunity to understand case studies from NASA and Air Force System Engineering studies for potential use in the curriculum development.
Systems Engineering Workshop Systems Engineering Education Workshop What are the desired outcomes? • To get more universities engaged in teaching an undergraduate systems engineering curriculum through Space Grant Consortia and other professional organizations • To enable universities to provide feedback on systems engineering curriculum as discussed at this workshop • To facilitate and foster the development of community of engineering educators interested in enhancing undergraduate systems engineering education
