  2. Many people are not aware that there is a way for foreign entrepreneurs to get a green card by investing in the United States. The EB5 Regional Center program offers qualified investors and their family members an opportunity to obtain lawful permanent residence through investment in a new commercial enterprise, creating jobs and economic growth in the United States.

The EB-five (employment-based fifth) preference category is reserved for investors who will invest $500,000 to $one million in a commercial enterprise within an approved regional centre and create or preserve at least ten jobs for qualified Americans. The investment must be "at-risk", which means tied up for several years until it can become commercially viable. A new business entity constantly forms with the foreign investor as its initial owner before transferring ownership of that entity over time to American managers through either additional capital contributions or sweat equity. To qualify under this program, these businesses are required by law to meet specific requirements such as creating full-time employment opportunities beyond what would typically result from just starting a new business, exports from the US economy, and capital investment in the US economy.
