Purpose of Project • Develop a musical clip of music using Matlab and utilize five techniques used in EE 127 lab to manipulate the music and two new techniques should also be applied to the music. Terrence R. Stuart & Nick Garcia
Description of Project • The musical clip we chose to create is a mix between the 90’s House Music and the creepy sounds that we all love of Halloween manipulated by Matlab. Terrence R. Stuart & Nick Garcia
Technology • Winamp2.5E (www.winamp.com) • Very useful to playback .mp3 files and convert them to .Wav files. • Matlab 5.2 • Useful to manipulate wave files using 5 different techniques echo, overlapping tones, changes in loudness or pitch, volume variations within a tone, and reverb.. Terrence R. Stuart & Nick Garcia
TechnologyContinued • Mixman Pro (www.mixman.com) • Very useful to mix sounds created. • Halloween Wave files (www.superglobe.com/halloween.htm) • Useful scary wave files. Terrence R. Stuart & Nick Garcia
Selected Sounds • Cat (Echo & change in pitch/duration) • Dungeon (Echo & Spectrograph) • Evil laugh (Echo, Volume variation, Spectrograph) • Screams (Change in pitch/duration) • Ghostly (Volume variation, Spectrograph) • Thunder & Wind (Overlapping tones) • Creaky Door (Reverb & Volume Variations) • Ogre (Change in pitch/duration, Spectrograph) • Chainsaw (Volume variation, Spectrograph) Terrence R. Stuart & Nick Garcia
Procedures • Manipulate scary wave files using Matlab by applying the five techniques discussed above. • Use Mixman Pro to mix all the the wave sounds and house music into one .mp3 file. • Use Winamp to play the final musical clip. Terrence R. Stuart & Nick Garcia
Final Project • A copy of our report and presentation can be found on the web at www.therampage.com/bio_haz/ee127/. There is also a copy of our final musical selection (available in different formats), links to software used, all sampled and altered sounds, final report and presentation is also available.
