Mission Stimulate the systematic exchange of information, communication and collaborative work among UNESCO Chairs and other organizations working on gender studies worldwide. It was launched in November 2010, with the support of UNESCO.
In Action… The UNESCO Regional Chair Women, Science and Technology in Latin America informed about this initiative to the 23 UNESCO Chairs around the world(Brazil, Chile, China, Côte d’Ivoire, Cyprus, Egypt, Ghana, Kenya, Kyrgyzstan, Mexico, Morocco, Pakistan, Poland, Spain, Sudan, Togo, Tunisia, United Kingdom, United States, Korea) focused on gender research, education and action oriented programs. 2010 • Responses showed: • Interest in participating in this initiative • The need to count with a virtual space, to facilitate the exchange, communication and collaborative projects.
In Action -Launching of the Global Network It took place during the International Conference “Gender Equity Policies – A Prospective View: New Scenarios, Actors and Articulations” (November 9 -12, 2010), organized by the Gender, Society and Policies Area- FLACSO, Argentina. It was attended by representatives of five UNESCO Chairs on gender (Mexico, Chile, Poland, Brazil, Argentina). By over fifty representatives of research centres and universities from Latin America and Europe. 2010
