  5. “I’m too young.” • In the eighteenth year of King Josiah, the king sent Shaphan… 22:3

  6. “My parents failed me.” • Manasseh… did what was evil in the sight of the LORD, according to the despicable practices of the nations whom the LORD drove out before the people of Israel. 21:1, 2 • Amon… did what was evil in the sight of the LORD, as Manasseh his father had done. 21:19, 20

  7. “Society is too wicked.” • Will you steal, murder, commit adultery, swear falsely, make offerings to Baal, and go after other gods that you have not known, and then come and stand before me in this house, which is called by my name, and say, “We are delivered!”—only to go on doing all these abominations? Jer 7:9-10
