How about you? • Share an example of one thing in one area that shows evidence of your community involvement
Classroom • What you are being “paid” for • Everything you learned about teaching • Classroom management & discipline • Relevant agricultural applications of science, math, reading, history, art, and every other class • Without the bottom of the pyramid, the peak is unstable
Program • Three Circles • SAE’s!!!!! • Local Foundation, Advisory Board, Alumni Chapter • Being able to answer the questions “What is the Ag Department up to these days?” • Ag Open House, Elem school visits, Youth Ag Education Center at County Fair
School • “How can the agdept help with the school?” • “How can I help with the school? • PLC’s, eating lunch in teacher’s lounge, Class Advisor, Prom, Plants for teachers/staff, Recycling program, School Cafeteria/Lunch Program • Coaching • Pro’s and Cons • Random visits with the administration • “You do what you think is best” point • “Keep up the good work”
Local Community • You are the COMMUNITY’S ag teacher in the COMMUNITY’S Ag Program • Church (somewhat trouble kids), Eating with the “locals” at the “Table of Knowledge”, Pioneer Power (“old” farmers), visiting at the local service stations, grocery store (where all the kids are employed), Fairboard, • Help with “Projects”, tours, and real world applications • GET TO KNOW EVERYONE (be social) • Be Humble or “Speak softly and carry a big stick”
Story from Saturday • Ties in EVERYTHING in ONE event
Global Community • Take time for yourself • Pay Bills (late fees are brutal) • Catch up with friends • LEARN NEW THINGS (the more you learn, the more you realize you don’t know diddley squat!) • You are either educating or corrupting the future. YOU pick which one you want to do, but make sure you are having fun (the kids notice!!!!)
