Standard Area 1: HR Management Policy Framework & Legislation All employers MUST understand and comply with legislation relating to employment. Your HR policies and practices MUST take into account the laws and regulations re: the employer-employee relationship. Legislation – framework Legislation interpreted through case law
Standard 1.1: HR management policies are formalized, documented and approved by the Board or approval as designated to the CEO/ED
Features of a practical policy Good organization and layout Relevant content Clear language Fairness and flexibility Legal compliance
Standard 1.2: HR management policies comply with employment, workplace health and safety, and other related legislation as applicable in the jurisdiction in which the organization operates.
