Early Life Theodor Seuss Geisel He credited his mother for his love of rhymes and his ability to create the rhymes that he has become known for. “How did it get so late so soon? Why the name Seuss? He attended Dartmouth College and he was involved in the campus humor magazine Jack-O-Lantern. He would sign his articles “Seuss”, which was “both his middle name and his mother’s maiden name.” (All About Dr. Seuss).
