The Dnieper River The Dnieper River is a river that crosses Belarus, Ukraine, and Russia, and is 2,290 kilometers long! That’s HUGE! The UNDP’s regional GEF project has helped Belarus and other countries make approaches that will help them manage the environment around the river so none of the plants, or animals, will became extinct. The drinking water from the river is used carefully because now 40% of the water that is taken does not meet the requirements needed. This is the reason why many plant, and animal species are becoming extinct in Ukraine, Russia, and Belarus. Back to Room 1
