The problem • No funding for the archives or its projects • Digitizing • Software • training • No tech support for OMEKA.
The Goal • Making digital content available when the budget is small (or non-existent) and/or there is little to no tech support.

Lessons learned • Super easy to use and end product looks nice! • Works great for images! • I wish it had a slideshow feature. • Definitely can be used for documents but I find I like it better for images. (This is probably due to me trying to maximize what I can do with 500 MB.) • I wish the subjects were searchable. (Only keywords are searchable at present.) • Don’t overload the CSV feature (bulk upload for metadata stored in an Excel worksheet).

Lessons learned • So far, I like it. Clean presentation. Easily embedded or linked to. • Lots of potential to market. • I’m giving up having everything integrated in one site but I’ve gained a very nice presentation platform. • The “search this publication” feature hasn’t work for me and I’m not sure why. • Free (with ads). Paid subscription has no ads, as I understand it. • Overall, very pleased with ease of use and presentation.
