What is Neuroscience? • a branch (as neurophysiology) of science that deals with the anatomy, physiology, biochemistry, or molecular biology of nerves and nervous tissue and especially their relation to behavior and learning
Course Work • Students must complete a course in neuroanatomy (Systems Neurobiology or Functional Neuroanatomy) and a course in cellular and molecular neuroscience (Cellular and Molecular Neurobiology or Neurophysiology plus Synaptic Transmission). A graduate-level course in statistics is strongly recommended but not required. Students must also participate in a journal club every fall and spring term (either a CNUP journal club or a more specialized journal club) and attend regular research seminars. Students must complete at least 12 credit hours of coursework toward the total of 24 credits required for the master's degree. Students are also required to pass two milestones en route to the master's degree: the Reprint Exam and the Master's Thesis Defense.
