C&C Who we are Dora House What we are doing Co-Design How we are doing it and what we learned
Central and Cecil is a not for profit registered provider, that has offered housing care and support to vulnerable people for nearly 90 years which includes; • Frail older people requiring personal care or care with nursing • People living with dementia • Active older people living in sheltered and extra care housing • Men and women facing homelessness • People with mental health support needs • Started developing onsite in 2015

Design Aspirations • Challenging norms of over 55s housing - reframing older age as a time of aspiration • Glamorous and functional homes , tailored by individuals • Contemporary facilities that lift the spirit • Adaptable building design - cluster model • Cluster specialisms – if needed now or in the future • Care ready with specialist care feasible right in the heart of the community • Tenure unspecific

Dora House • Built in 1969 , traditional Sheltered Housing • 159 bedsits 36sqm & 45 1-bed flats 45sqm • Mix of ages and vulnerabilities • Does not meet expectations or aspirations • Space • Accessibility • Energy efficiency • Under developed site • Highly desirable and valued location
Dora House - Redevelopment • Complete knock down and rebuild • Funded through partial sale of the site for private development • Full relocation of residents over a year period (Oct 2014-Dec 2015) • New building ready 2018
