Thomas Edison • Inventor of the phonograph, Thomas Alva Edison became deaf as a child. • After 3 months of school, he was labeled as ‘addled’ because his mind wandered. • He was labeled “too stupid to learn anything.” • He was unable to read until he was twelve years old. • He was a poor writer. • At the age of 20, he was fired by Western Union. • Edison was dyslexic. • He failed numerous times to invent the light bulb: “I have not failed.
