1. Sabeel-ul-Huda Lesson 6 (Al-Baqarah: 21-25)

3. يَـٰٓأَيُّہَا ٱلنَّاسُ ٱعۡبُدُواْ رَبَّكُمُ ٱلَّذِى خَلَقَكُمۡ وَٱلَّذِينَ مِن قَبۡلِكُمۡ لَعَلَّكُمۡ تَتَّقُونَ (٢١) ٱلَّذِى جَعَلَ لَكُمُ ٱلۡأَرۡضَ فِرَٲشً۬ا وَٱلسَّمَآءَ بِنَآءً۬ وَأَنزَلَ مِنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ مَآءً۬ فَأَخۡرَجَ بِهِۦ مِنَ ٱلثَّمَرَٲتِ رِزۡقً۬ا لَّكُمۡ‌ۖ فَلَا تَجۡعَلُواْ لِلَّهِ أَندَادً۬ا وَأَنتُمۡ تَعۡلَمُونَ)٢٢(وَإِن ڪُنتُمۡ فِى رَيۡبٍ۬ مِّمَّا نَزَّلۡنَا عَلَىٰ عَبۡدِنَا فَأۡتُواْ بِسُورَةٍ۬ مِّن مِّثۡلِهِۦ وَٱدۡعُواْ شُهَدَآءَكُم مِّن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ إِن كُنتُمۡ صَـٰدِقِينَ  (٢٣)

4. فَإِن لَّمۡ تَفۡعَلُواْ وَلَن تَفۡعَلُواْ فَٱتَّقُواْ ٱلنَّارَ ٱلَّتِى وَقُودُهَا ٱلنَّاسُ وَٱلۡحِجَارَةُ‌ۖ أُعِدَّتۡ لِلۡكَـٰفِرِينَ  (٢٤)وَبَشِّرِ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ وَعَمِلُواْ ٱلصَّـٰلِحَـٰتِ أَنَّ لَهُمۡ جَنَّـٰتٍ۬ تَجۡرِى مِن تَحۡتِهَا ٱلۡأَنۡهَـٰرُ‌ۖ ڪُلَّمَا رُزِقُواْ مِنۡہَا مِن ثَمَرَةٍ۬ رِّزۡقً۬ا‌ۙ قَالُواْ هَـٰذَا ٱلَّذِى رُزِقۡنَا مِن قَبۡلُ‌ۖ وَأُتُواْ بِهِۦ مُتَشَـٰبِهً۬ا‌ۖ وَلَهُمۡ (٢٥) فِيهَآ أَزۡوَٲجٌ۬ مُّطَهَّرَةٌ۬‌ۖ وَهُمۡ فِيهَا خَـٰلِدُونَ  

5. Translation

6. Ayah 21 يَـٰٓأَيُّہَا ٱلنَّاسُ ٱعۡبُدُواْ رَبَّكُمُ ٱلَّذِى خَلَقَكُمۡ وَٱلَّذِينَ مِن قَبۡلِكُمۡ لَعَلَّكُمۡ تَتَّقُونَ    O mankind, worship your Lord, who created you and those before you, that you may become righteous –

7. Ayah 22ٱلَّذِى جَعَلَ لَكُمُ ٱلۡأَرۡضَ فِرَٲشً۬ا وَٱلسَّمَآءَ بِنَآءً۬ وَأَنزَلَ مِنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ مَآءً۬ فَأَخۡرَجَ بِهِۦ مِنَ ٱلثَّمَرَٲتِ رِزۡقً۬ا لَّكُمۡ‌ۖ فَلَا تَجۡعَلُواْ لِلَّهِ أَندَادً۬ا وَأَنتُمۡ تَعۡلَمُونَ [He] who made for you the earth a bed [spread out] and the sky a ceiling and sent down from the sky, rain and brought forth thereby fruits as provision for you. So do not attribute to Allah equals while you know [that there is nothing similar to Him].

8. Ayah 23 وَإِن ڪُنتُمۡ فِى رَيۡبٍ۬ مِّمَّا نَزَّلۡنَا عَلَىٰ عَبۡدِنَا فَأۡتُواْ بِسُورَةٍ۬ مِّن مِّثۡلِهِۦ وَٱدۡعُواْ شُهَدَآءَكُم مِّن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ إِن كُنتُمۡ صَـٰدِقِينَ  (٢٣) And if you are in doubt about what We have sent down upon Our Servant [Muhammad], then produce a sūrah the like thereof and call upon your witnesses other than Allah, if you should be truthful.

9. Ayah 24 فَإِن لَّمۡ تَفۡعَلُواْ وَلَن تَفۡعَلُواْ فَٱتَّقُواْ ٱلنَّارَ ٱلَّتِى وَقُودُهَا ٱلنَّاسُ وَٱلۡحِجَارَةُ‌ۖ أُعِدَّتۡ لِلۡكَـٰفِرِينَ   But if you do not – and you will never be able to – then fear the Fire, whose fuel is men and stones, prepared for the disbelievers.

10. Ayah 25 وَبَشِّرِ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ وَعَمِلُواْ ٱلصَّـٰلِحَـٰتِ أَنَّ لَهُمۡ جَنَّـٰتٍ۬ تَجۡرِى مِن تَحۡتِهَا ٱلۡأَنۡهَـٰرُ‌ۖ ڪُلَّمَا رُزِقُواْ مِنۡہَا مِن ثَمَرَةٍ۬ رِّزۡقً۬ا‌ۙ قَالُواْ هَـٰذَا ٱلَّذِى رُزِقۡنَا مِن قَبۡلُ‌ۖ وَأُتُواْ بِهِۦ مُتَشَـٰبِهً۬ا‌ۖ وَلَهُمۡ فِيهَآ أَزۡوَٲجٌ۬ مُّطَهَّرَةٌ۬‌ۖ وَهُمۡ فِيهَا خَـٰلِدُونَ And give good tidings to those who believe and do righteous deeds that they will have gardens [in Paradise] beneath which rivers flow. Whenever they are provided with a provision of fruit therefrom, they will say, "This is what we were provided with before." And it is given to them in likeness. And they will have therein purified spouses, and they will abide therein eternally.

12. This ruku is a concise explantion of the 3 topics taught in Mecca For 13 Years: • Tawheed – Oneness Of Allah. • Risaalat-Truth of Prophethood that the Message of Messenger of Allah is True. • Aakhirah-Belief in Day Of Judgement.

13. Ayah 21 • In this ayah Allah(S.W.T) has mentioned His Oneness in divinity (tawheed).

14. Ayah 22 • This Ayah Explains the blessings, both hidden and apparent. • He made the earth a resting place for them, just like the bed, stable with the firm mountains. • And the sky as `a ceiling'. • And sends down for you water (rain) from the sky (through the clouds, when they need the rain). • Hence, Allah caused the various types of vegetation and fruits to grow as a means of sustenance for people and their cattle.

15. Why Allah has mentioned about these blessings,there are 2 reasons: • To Remind mankind Why Allah alone has to be worshipped,because He has bestowed these blessings on them. • To Stop people from Nature worship.(As some of the people worshipped sky, fire, sun etc.,)

16. Ayah 23 • This ayah reveals 2 things: • The truth of Prophethood,that the Message of The Messenger Of Allah is True. • The Challenge : To produce a similar Chapter to that of Quran. • Allah challenged the disbelievers in various parts of the Qur'an: • Surat Al-Qasas (28:49) • Surat Al-Isra' (17:88) • Surat Hud (11:13) • Surat Yunus (10:37-38)

17. Ayah 24 • Quran A Miracle: • Allah said فَإِنلَّمْتَفْعَلُواْوَلَنتَفْعَلُواْلَّم “ But if you do it not, and you can never do it” : Indicating that they will never be able to answer the challenge. • Allah(S.W.T) clearly stated without doubt that the Qur'an will never be opposed or challenged by anything similar to it, for eternity. • This is a true statement by Allah(S.W.T) that has not been changed until the present and shall never change.

18. Hadees: • The Two Sahihs record that Abu Hurayrah said that the Prophet said, “Every Prophet was given a miracle, the type of which brings mankind to faith. What I was given is a revelation that Allah sent down to me. Yet, I hope that I will have the most following on the Day of Resurrection” • Here revelation refers to the miraculous Quran.

19. فَاتَّقُواْالنَّارَالَّتِىوَقُودُهَاالنَّاسُوَالْحِجَارَةُأُعِدَّتْلِلْكَـفِرِينَفَاتَّقُواْالنَّارَالَّتِىوَقُودُهَاالنَّاسُوَالْحِجَارَةُأُعِدَّتْلِلْكَـفِرِينَ • Then fear the Fire (Hell) whose fuel is men and stones, prepared for the disbelievers • وَقُودُهَا`Fuel' : is wood, or similar substances, used to start and feed a fire • Meaning of وَالْحِجَارَStones: The stones mentioned here are the idols and rivals that were worshipped instead of Allah • أُعِدَّتْلِلْكَـفِرِينَ - (prepared for the disbelievers) • This reveals that Jahannam (Hellfire) exists now

20. Rewards of Righteous Believers: • For them will be Gardens under which rivers flow (Paradise). • The Fruits of Paradise (the similarity with the fruits on earth) • The Wives of the People of Paradise are Pure. • They will live there forever.
