Q: Describe the energy transfer that happens when a baseball player hits a homerun. (Start with the pitch and end with the ball landing in the stands.) A: The energy moves from the pitcher to the ball during the pitch. When the batter makes contact the energy of the moving ball is transferred to the bat and the players arms. During the swing, the player transfers energy to the bat, and the bat transfers energy to the ball. The ball transfers energy to the air as it travels, and the stands when it lands. So in the end the bat and ball are both transferring energy to the other.
