About Me • Grew up in Anderson, IN • Attended Ball State University • This will be my 5th year teaching • Love to shop, play sports and read • Getting married June 7, 2014 • VERY excited to be teaching 3rd grade
Our Daily Schedule • 8:30-8:45 Check-in / Morning Work • 8:45-10:25Literacy Block • 10:25-11:15Specials (Day 1: Art, Day 2: Technology, Day 3: P.E., Day 4: Music) • 11:20-11:50RTI • 11:50-12:10Recess • 12:10-12:45Lunch • 12:50-2:00 Math • 2:00-2:45Writing • 2:45-3:15 PBL • 3:15-3:25 Pack-up/Dismissal
Our Day 5 Schedule • Same as normal daily schedule BUT • NO specials • Collaboration time for grade level teachers • Students will have enhanced lessons with special teachers and counselor
Homework • Spelling • 3 times a week (Monday-Wednesday) • Wednesday Skill Homework • Test Thursday • Math • 4 times a week ( Monday-Thursday) • Graded for completion • Parent letter each unit • Reading • 90 minutes a week total. Reading log will be sent home Fridays and is due the next Friday.
Classroom Assessments • Math quiz weekly on Monday • Spelling test weekly on Thursday • All other quiz/ test dates will be on class website and written in assignment notebooks by student
Spelling • Sitton Spelling • Not traditional spelling program • MORE info on handout
Project-Based Learning • Projects that encompass all subject areas • Students explore real-world problems and challenges • Students work in collaborative groups • Will cover a lot of Science and Social Studies at this time • Main ideas will include: How community has changed over the years, Bill of Rights and government, saving money and economics, and rocks and minerals.
Freedom Levels • School wide behavior plan • Level 4 • Student who ALWAYS demonstrates what is expected! Does not need any reminders. • Level 3 • Student who mostly demonstrates what is expected. May need a few reminders. Starting position for all students. • Level 2 • Student who struggles to demonstrate what is expected. Needs multiple reminders • Level 1 • Students demonstrates major noncompliant behaviors. • Student form will be completed weekly; signed on Fridays by you, then returned on Mondays
Assignment Notebooks • Please check their assignment notebooks each night to make sure they have completed all their assignments. • Parent signature each night • Assignment notebooks should be coming home every night and coming back every day. • Take home folders will come home nightly with homework and papers for parents.

Miscellaneous • Change of transportation: send a note in with child or call school • Wellness policy – No snacks, birthday treats, etc (allergies)
Volunteering • Flexible with times/jobs! • Field Trip Volunteers • Sign Up on Student Permission Slips • Noblesvilleschools.org • Parents tab>Forms>Volunteer Noblesville Online Form • Sign up now, and I will put together a schedule and clear it with everyone!
