THE SPORT CENTER OF LOHJA • Lohjas way to produce services of physical education is rare in Finland • the company of swimming hall had it’s business at Lohja from the year 1970 - the name was changed to the Sport Center of Lohja in 1980 • it built and upkeeped exercise areas for the both commun’s • before the municipality of Lohjan kunta was consolidated in to the Lohja city in 1997, communal physical actions of both municipalities were removed to the company in 1993 • the company pays rents of exersice areas to • the city, the incomes from the areas come to • the company itself.

THE ARRANGEMENT OF EXERCISE • EXERCISE-LAW (1998 § 2 ) defines that communs have the mission to offer exercise • activities and make the daily acitivites better to higer every citizens well-being. HOW WE WORK IN THE COMPANY • 1) OFFER EXERSICE AREAS = FASILITIES • to different organisations and groups – economically: • payments of exersice areas, 10% of the whole expenses • 2) SETTING UP ACTIVITIES • to all habitants of Lohja – • the focus on special exersice , children and young people • 3) AIDING FINANCIALY • exersice organizations and their activies • in addition the focus on young members • and their hobbies in the organizations.

HOW WE WORK IN THE COMPANY • 4) GREATING NEW FACILITIES AND IMPROVEING • to make them more appealigs • 5 new, near exersice areas have been built near the shcoolyards • outdoor skatebording park, built in 2006, was planed in the co-opparation with users • 5) TRYING TO LISTEN THE YOUTH, TO DISCUSE AND TO TAKE WITH • an indoor skateboarding park is being planned. • 6) CO-OPERATE WITH YOUTH AND SOCIAL • ORGANIZATIONS

SPECIAL PROBLEMS • 1) SPONTANEOUS EXERCISE • hanging around with friends is in mod – street culture • ”drop out” exercise organizations of Lohja 30 % • 2) EXERSICES CLUBS – HOLYDAYSEASON EXERCISE • after school 3 pm – 5 pm o´clock dosen´t work out - ”not interested” • the action don´t reach these physically inaktive pupils • holydayseason exercise club for youth over the age of 10 don´t reach their target group anymore • shortage of instractors • 3) EMPTYNESS IN THE EXESICE AREAS • are empty during the day time to 5 pm • in the evenings the times are all booked up

SPECIAL PROBLEMS • 4) MOVING PHYSICALLY ACTIVE • exersice services reach moustly physically active adults and children • organizations (the thirth sectory) set up activities – how they will accept our common challenge? • the pressription to adults physical exersice is in use • 5) THE SUCCESS OF SPORTS IN LOHJA • worry about level of the coaching and professional skill of trainiers • Lohja don´t have any national higher ranked • sport teams. The young spotlers often transfer • to the bigger organizations in Helsinki

STUDIES/RESALTS • OBSERVATIONS ABOUT THE LOCKAL PHYSICAL EXESICE • 1) SATISFACTION WITH EXESICE SERVICES • The yearly surveys to adults – the level of satisfaction 90 % > • schoolsurvey – sufficiently execise aktivities, over 30 % of pupils execise 3 time or more in weekly • 2) FINISCH HEALTH REACHERS AMONG SHOOLPUPILS • There are results from youth’s exercise behaviour, alchohol and smoking usage.

STUDIES/RESULTS • THE FINNICH RESALTS OF PSYSICALLY EXERSICE • 1) PHYSICAL ACTIVITY OF YOUNG PEOPLE HAS DECREASED • 2) ONLY A LITTELE PART OF YOUTH REACH THE AIM OF NATIONAL • EXERSICE • Exercing daily 1,5 hour pupils of lowshool and atleast 1 hour in highshool • 3) BELONING TO ORGANIZED EXERCISE/SPORT HASN´T • CHANGED • on the contrary it has growed 15 – 20 % • 4) THE YOUNG ATHLETE DOSEN´T EXERCISE • ENOUGH DAILY • over 50 % of schoolpupils don´t exersice • enough

OTHER THINGS • FAMILY EXERSICE • The exersice activities are based a lot on parents activity • We have set up together with the Lohja exersice organization the following events: • - The roum/wander of gottage in the woods - Laavujen Kierros, 4 events in the autum • - The activitie of kids – Tennarin Tenavatohinat – 6 – 8 events in the year • OUR COMPANY WISHES • To get ideas how we should get • - the youth to be more active • with exersice &- more the use in the areas in the afternoons.
