The broadcast of recorded music meant a true social revolution. It made it possible for the masses to have access to something that had always been available only through concerts or scores.
The phonograph used wax and tin cylinders as recording devices. Thomas Alva Edison The gramophone introduced the flat disc as a recording device. It was made of zinc, ebonite and slate. Relation between music and image a) Diegetic music: it illustrates an image in which a sound source appears (a record player, a dance orchestra, a performer singing or playing an instrument, the music from bar, etc.) and it must correspond with it by showing the sound whatever appears on the screen is making. b) Non-diegetic: no sound source appears on the screen and, therefore, the composer is free to create the ambient music he considers best.
