WELCOME to • Values Education Lessons
Knowledge and Skills • Are two things that are vital in carrying out goals and thereby developing competences.
Knowledge • Intellectual Competence • Physical or Manual Competence • Social Competence
Intellectual Knowledge • Is the ability to use your mind to reflect, to learn to choose, and to solve problems.
Physical or Manual Competence • The ability to use your body to achieve goals • Skills included are: • 1. motor skills-walking, reading, writing, or running • 2.coordination skills-swimming, typing and so forth
Skills for physical development and Expression • These skills will develop your “body” competence, including: basic coordination and motor skills as in dancing, eating, taking a bath, playing and etc.
Skills for Intellectual development • This gives emphasis on the skills of “learning how to learn.” Look into these skills by going back into the past, you have been engaged in a learning process since birth. Then as you grew older and entered school, you were faced with school-related learning activities (reading, writing, arithmetic, and even problem solving)
Value Clarification Skills • These refer to your ability to get a clear picture of your own values as well as those of other people.
Skills for Big Group Interaction • Big may refer to school or community organization you belong. Involvement in large groups usually entails more advanced learning skills such as: • Learning who has power • Learning the norms, standards, and customs of the group • Learning how to find and utilized resources • Learning how to form small group to change or improve the large group.
