25. Supply Chain Management Production Control & Capacity Management MC employs an Advanced Planning & Scheduling system which goes far beyond traditional MRP approaches to production control. The APS system allows MC superior control over production activities. Going beyond APS, MC uses utilization and efficiency reports (historical and current) to establish needs and identify and eliminate bottlenecks. Advanced Throughput Tools based on Eli Goldratt’s Theory of Constraints provide detailed views into potential bottlenecks and overall shop floor activity, allowing our capacity management team to make highly informed decisions. We also make extensive use of a Kanban system for our primary materials.

We provide ongoing TPS training to our staff and have created a Continuous Improvement Team to measure the success of our Kaizen events and determine what areas are best served by future events. MC has implemented cellular manufacturing approaches for numerous projects. While not all our production lends itself well to cellular manufacturing, we are committed to using cells whenever appropriate.
