Spotlight Careers – share experiences/knowledge, notice board display, student presentation, invite those ‘living the dream’, bellwork
Think Aloud – while teaching draw students attention to how this topic relates to a future education or career goal • Design class activities around the work of those in the field – speech (Law), newspaper article (Journalism), collect/analyze data (Weather Officer, Historian), identify crop diseases (Agriculture Officer) etc
Promote inter-disciplinary learning – it removes learning in isolation AND we often never get exactly what we want!! • Be enthusiastic – it will help students believe in the relevance of your subject to their lives
