Handwriting Practice Through Poetry • Students will be introduced to a new poem each week • Poem will be written, illustrated, and shared in student’s Poetry Notebook Used as fluency practice as well.

Homework Math and Reading homework is sent home each week and is due on Fridays ONLY. Please check your teacher’s syllabus as this may vary from teacher to teacher. • Homework is to cement skills already learned in class. • Please have your child read 20 minutes daily. They should be reading to you during their homework time.

VolunteerTraining • If you would like to volunteerfor field trips, you need to complete a volunteer training class. Classes at Canyon Springs will be held on: August 26th – 3:45 pm September 5th-4:00 pm February 5th-4:00 pm *If you have already attended a volunteer training class in Deer Valley, you do not need to attend again.
Reminders… • Students need to read 20 minutes a day at home • Please check folders daily • Homework due Fridays ONLY (Shirk/Wagner) • Please remind children to leave toys at home • No food in classroom (unless it is with parent approval) • Please support Canyon Springs and 2nd Grade by joining PTSA!
