RENEWABLE ENERY POTENTIAL INMOROCCO • SOLAR ENERGY : Morocco has an excellent Solar potential : 4,7 - 5,7 kWh/m2/day (2800 hours/year in the North, more than 3000 hours/year in the South of Morocco). • WIND ENERGY : Morocco has an excellent wind potential mainly in the North & in the South :- Tangier, Tetouan & Essaouira with an annual average between 9 & 11 m/s at 40 meters.- Tarfaya, Taza & Dakhla with an annual average between 7.5 m/s & 9 m/s at 40 meters. Wind Potential of Morocco : • Total Potential : 7936 TWh/year (3968 GW) • Technical Potential : 4896 TWh/year (2500 GW)(Electricity consumption in Morocco in 2006 : 21 TWh) • Wind Atlas of Morocco published in 1986 & 1995 and updated in 2007. • More than 50 measurements stations installed between 1990 & 2007

PROJECT OF AKHFENNIR • Parties of the Project : ONEP (Morocco) IMET (Italy) CDER (Morocco) • Project objectives : Desalination sea water by wind energy in Akhfennir village • Situation of the village : Near Atlantic Coast(1000 km in the South of Rabat, capital) • Number of inhabitants : 4000 residents permanently • Consumption of water : 860 m3/day (2008 - 2015) • Drinking water : Akhfennir village is supplied in drinking water by trucks cisterns from the city of Tan-Tan (120 DH/m3#11 Euro/m3)
