  1. Franz Schubert By Aaron Boyd

  2. Early musical career • He first studied music with his father and brother. • He was an excellent singer. • Studied under Antonio Salieri and Wenzel Ruzicka at Stadtkonvikt in Vien. • Salieri praised him as a musical genius. • He was being trained to sing in the imperial court.

  3. His music He was one of the first romantics. He took inspiration from poets such as Goethe. The song Ava Maria was a poem by Sir Walter Scott that he put to music. He had syphilis for most of his career.

  4. Birth, death, and family • He was born on January 31, 1797 in Himmelpfortgrund, Austria. • He died on November 19, 1828. • He was buried alongside Johan Straus II, Beethoven, and Brahms, but no one cares about Brahms. • His wife was Elizabethe. • He had three brothers. • His father was Franz Theodor Schubert

  5. Interesting facts. • His final concert was on March 28, 1828. It paid enough for Schubert to finally buy a piano of his own. He only owned a piano for eight months before he died. • He was forced to leave Stadtkonvikt when his voice broke in 1812.

  6. Italian Overture in C major. Because he was very poor, most of his compositions were sold in an attempt to provide for his wife and himself. However, Italian Overture in C major is important because the first public performance of it sparked Schubert to devote his life to music.

  7. Die Forelle Die Forelle, or The Trout, is the song by Schubert that I chose to play. I bet no one but Frau will be able to follow it. Herman Prey is the singer in this selection. Die Forelle - Hermann Prey - YouTube
