Where Are They Volunteering • Board of Directors/Policy Council and other UMCHS Boards. • Assisting in the classroom • SMART • CASA • Assisting in the kitchen • Mentors • Instructors • Clerical • Bus Monitor • Maintenance in our facilities • WIC assistance • Health Resource Assistant Carrie Litteral November Volunteer of the month Hermiston CDC Center

Reasons Why They Volunteer • Be challenged • Develop new skills and interests to gain experience for career change • Enjoy spending time with children • Give back to the Community • Contribute in a meaningful way to the future of children and their community • Fill time in retirement • Friends are volunteering in UMCHS • Feel needed and valued • Meet new people, socialize Bobbi Hughes • Desire to use skills and expertise December Volunteer • Earn credits for school of the Month • Impact a cause they care about Stanfield Classroom • Have fun!

What Makes A Successful Volunteer Program: • Vision…Every organization needs a vision and purpose for their volunteer program. • Outgoing…Staff need to be exciting and outgoing about utilizing volunteers. • Listening…Staff need to be effective listeners to volunteers needs. • Useful….Volunteers need to feel like their time is useful. • Nurtured…Volunteers need nurturing and support from staff members.

Continued... • Training…Volunteers need training to do their job effectively. • Energy…..Volunteers can provide energy and enthusiasm to the program. • Efficient....Volunteers can provide efficiency to the program. • Respect......Volunteers need the respect and appreciation for their skills and time they provide to our program.
