  2. Fibonacci • His birth name was Leonardo da Pisa • Nicknamed Fibonacci which is short for filiusBonacci in Latin • He was born in 1175ad and died in 1226ad. • His book Liber abbaci describes how we learn adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing today in Latin.

  3. Question And Answer • Does anyone know what Fibonacci’s Sequence is? • Fibonacci's sequence is a number series in which you find the next number by adding the two numbers before it. You can also subtract the two numbers after it and go the other way. But we will only be dealing with positives today. • For example: 0,1,1,2,3,5,8,13,21,34 and so on.

  4. Activity • 0, 1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13, 21, 34, 55, 89, 144, 233, 377, 610, 987, 1597, 2584, 4181, 6765, 10946, 17711, 28657, 46368, 75025, 121393, 196418, 317811 … • Figure out the next three numbers NO CALCULATORS • Answers are in this order: 514229, 832040, 134269.

  5. Activity • Each person will get a number from the 1st to the 14th on Fibonacci’s sequence. We will divide the class into 2 teams. The objective is to go through each number that everyone has. • This will be a timed activity • You must get every number right

The teams and rules • Team 1 Aarfa, Adam, Steph, Katelynn, Julie, Carson, Sienna, Tyrel, Ethan K, Nathan, Andrew, Jacob, Mavleen, and Lynel • Team 2 Max, Fynn, Ellen, Akshpreet, Naz, Aidan, Ethan H, Selena, Fiona, Brooke, Katie, Dominique, Ethan S, Ben • There will be coin toss. Winner will get to pick if they go first or second. • Each person must say the number that they get.
