Not believing in six literal days… Loss of the authority of the word of God Failure of the church to influence the culture 6 days?
Why don’t people… including some Christian leaders… believe the days in Genesis 1 are literal 24-hour days? Waw consecutive/disjunctive
1. Because for the non-believers… to do so would obligate them to believe the rest of the book, and they would be accountable to God! Waw consecutive/disjunctive
Because even • Christians • Bible translators • church leadership • …have been influenced to accept “millions of years” and the “science” of evolution as fact in this “scientific” age Waw consecutive/disjunctive

7 March 2004 Genesis … the key to reclaiming the culture Genesis …why won’t they listen? Dr. Quentin Smith & AiG Answers in Genesis Ministries
Because they are “Greeks” Why won't they listen? Because God has not yet drawn them
Why won't they listen? Because they are “Greeks”
“Greeks?” 1 Corinthians 1:10-31
1 Corinthians 1: 18-24 18 For the word of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are beingsaved it is the power of God. 1 Corinthians 1:23
21 For since in the wisdom of God the world through its wisdom did not come to know God, God was well-pleased through the foolishness of the message preached to save those who believe. 22 For indeed Jews ask for signs and Greeks search for wisdom; 1 Corinthians 1:23
23 but we preach Christ crucified, to Jews a stumbling block and to Gentiles foolishness, 24 but to those who are the called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God. 1 Corinthians 1:23
figuratively applied to Jesus Christ, whose person and career were so contrary to the expectations of the Jews concerning the Messiah, that they rejected him and by their obstinacy made shipwreck of their salvation Strong’s analytical concordance Stumbling block: “Skandalon”
called, invited (to a banquet) invited(by God in the proclamation of the Gospel)to obtain eternal salvation in the kingdom through Christ called to (the discharge of) some office divinely selected and appointed Strong’s analytical concordance The Called: “Kletos”
23 but we preach Christ crucified, to Jews a stumbling block and to Gentiles foolishness, 24 but to those who are the called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God. 1 Corinthians 1:23

Acts 2:22-24 22 "Men of Israel, listen to this: Jesus of Nazareth was a man accredited by God to you by miracles, wonders and signs, which God did among you through him, as you yourselves know. 23 This man was handed over to you by God’s set purpose and foreknowledge;and you, with the help of wicked men, put him to death by nailing him to the cross. 24 But God raised him from the dead, freeing him from the agony of death, because it was impossible for death to keep its hold on him. Acts 2:22-24 NIV
Acts 2:36 36 “Therefore let all the house of Israel know for certain that God has made Him both Lord and Christ – this Jesus whom you crucified” Acts 2:22-24 NIV
Acts 2:37-39 • When the people heard this, they were cut to the heart and said to Peter and the other apostles, “Brothers, what shall we do” • Peter replied, "Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. • “For the promise is for you and your children and for all who are far off, as many as the Lord our God will call to himself.” Acts 2:37-38,40 NIV
Acts 2:40-41 40 With many other words he warned them; and he pleaded with them, "Save yourselves from this corrupt generation." 41 So then, those who had received his word were baptized; and there were added that day about three thousand souls. Scripture Background - new

Acts 17:17-18 17 So he was reasoning in the synagogue with the Jews and the God-fearing Gentiles, and in the market place every day with those who happened to be present. 18 And also some of the Epicurean and Stoic philosophers were conversing with him. Some were saying, "What would this idle babbler wish to say?" Others, "He seems to be a proclaimer of strange deities,"--because he was preaching Jesus and the resurrection. Acts 17:18 NIV Foolishness!
