  7. STEP ONE: • Examine the “Middle Passage” of slaves from the differing viewpoints found in the included primary sources. Answer the questions included at the end of each source.

  8. STEP TWO: • Imagine that you have been commissioned by the government to create a memorial for the Middle Passage. Design and draw a monument that would be appropriate for remembering the trans-Atlantic slave trade. Should be neat and in color. MONUMENT DESIGN CHECKLIST: ____ - Well thought/planned design ____ - Neat & Presentable ____ - Must be in color (or neatly illustrated in ink) ____ - Must be on large 11x15 paper

  9. STEP THREE: • Then write a one-page inscription that would be included on a plaque. Use complete sentences. It should include information taken from at least two (2) of the primary sources provided.
