About us: • Welcome to the exciting world of UmnyamaIkhaya, which means Rainbow Homes. We specialise in modular building using 12,19m L x 2,44m W x 2,9m H shipping containers. This building method can be applied to all aspects of society from low, medium and premium cost products both on and off the grid. • Our main focus will be off the grid green living integrating solar, wind, green growing walls, waterless toilets, rainwater harvesting systems, smokeless stoves etc. You dream it and we will build it. No challenge is to big or small. The beauty of this building form is it simplicity. Have a look at some examples of what our architects have come up with.
Basic Costing: • Container prices vary from R26 000 for a second hand container to R56 000 for a once used shipping container. • Brand new shipping containers sell for about R68 000. • We will exclusively be using High cube shipping containers as building blocks due to its increased height. • Our off the grid container homes are priced at R350 000 and R365 000 and are inclusive of delivery and crane service anywhere in South Africa. The aim as mentioned prior is to discuss our concept with all the players in green building and come up with the most cost effective solution. A 4 sleeper version of this house also available for lower and medium cost housing purposes.

This in return will help this country with its housing shortage. • 4) Attracting international and local government subsidies for low cost housing programmes. • 5) To remain true to our roots and to only use materials and products of a green, sustainable nature at all times. • 6) Getting sponsorships from multinational companies • 7) We are planning to service any part of South Africa based on demand, but our head office will be in Cape Town for now. The long term plan is to also penetrate Africa as I believe this entire continent will benefit from this venture.
