Act on Aliens of 12December2013 (Dz.U.(Journal of Laws) of 2013- item 1650 as amended), Enterintoforce: May 01, 2014 Implementation of: Directive 2004/114/EC of Dec.13,2004 on admitting the third countriesnationals for the purposes of studies, pupils exchange, unnumeratedtraining and voluntray service Directive 2005/71/EC of Oct. 12,2005 on a specificprocedure for admitting the third countriesnationals for the purposes of scientificresearch.

  3. VISA The foreignermay cross the border and stay on the territory of the Republic of Poland if he/sheis in a possession of a validtraveldocument and a visa.

  4. 1 - type of visa: „C” – Shengen visa, „D” – nationalstay visa, 2 – purpose of visa issuance: „10” – visa isissued in the purpose of completingstudies of the firstcycle program, the secondcycle program, the longcycle program (master degree) or the third cycledegree. Regulation of the Minister of Interior and Administration of 22.04.2011. on visas for the foreigners, (Journal of Law of 2011)no. 99, item. 579),

  5. 3 – number of entries: • visa of one entry – „ONE” • multientries visa – „MULTI” • 4 – period of stay • 5 – date of visa issuance • 6 - 7 – validity period • 8 – place of visa issuance

  6. Term of applying for the residence permit for a fixed period of time The foreignerstaying in the territory of the Republic of Poland isobliged to apply for the residencepermit for a fixed period at leastin the lastday of hislegalstay on the base of visa or the expirationdate of the previouspermit for a fixed period

  7. The residence permit for a fixed period of time for the education purposes is granted for : the studies undergraduate,graduate (PhD) or one long cycle the Preparatory Courses

  8. The dueinstitution to apply for the residence for a fixed period of time is: Voievodship Office in Lodz, Department for Citizens and Foreigners (calledImmigration Office) Address: Lodz, 103 Piotrkowska St.

  9. The list of documents to be submitted along with application for residency permit for a fixed period: 1. filled in application form and one copy 2. 4 recent photographs, undamaged, dimensions: 4,5 cm x 3,5 cm, no head coverings or hats, no sunglasses, the face should be evenly illuminated.

  10. 3 Valid travel document (original and copy of passport), 4 Registration at the place of the foreigner’s accommodation (MELDUNEK) 5. Certifacte of the accommodation in the dormitory or an agreement for lease of a flat in which the foreigner resides and a legal title to the occupied flat. 6. Documents confirming the volume of living costs covering the period of stay,cost of studies and cost of return journey as: - the bank report on the history of banking account - a document certyfying the scholarship - the parent’s statement o covering all living and school costs during the studies in Poland

Required financial means to cover living costs in Poland, costs of studies and costs of return journey PLN 800 per each month of the stay: PLN 9600 for the period of 12 months, Less (depending of the number of months) if the stay is shorter than one year the equivalent of this amount in foreign currencies.

Return ticket to the country of citizenship or financial means covering the costs of return journey in the amount being the equivalent of cost of the ticket with which the forigner arrived to Poland, not less however than: PLN 200 for the foreigners from the Poland’s neighbouring countries, PLN 500 for the foreigher from the European countries, PLN 2500 for the foreigners from the countries outside Europe.

  16. If the application for the residence card is submitted in due time and if the conditions required are fulfilled the Immgigration Office puts a special stamp in the forigner’s passport confirming that the application was made and accepted.

Residence Card • valid for the period of granted permit, • For the studies purposes – for 15 months plus 3 months extention • For the Preparatory Course purpose – for the periond of Course duration plus • 3 months extention • confirms the forigner’s identity on the teriritory of the Republic of Poland and together with travel document entitles for multiple crossing the Polish border. • allows for a multiply crossing the Polish border, and together with the travel document ( passport) for visiting the Shengen countries for max 90 days during each 180 days period of time.

  21. The foreignerhas to change the card (apply for a new one) in the cases of: Change of anypersonal data; Change of the lookwhichmakesitdifficult to identify the owner of the card; Damage of the card; Loss of the card Stamp chargeis PLN 100 or PLN 200 if the cardischanged the second time

Obligations to inform the Immigration Office about the termination of the purpose for granting the permition • The foreigner is obliged to inform the Immigration Office about the termination of the purpose of stay in Poland within the 15 days • The University is obliged to inform the Immigration Office immediately uppon withdrawal of the foreigner from the student’s list or the decision to retake the year

  23. The immigration Office may deny the permition for residence in the next years if the foreigner does not get the admission for the next year and has to retake the yeear of studies.
