  2. Bargaining for Real Reform • Be for something! • WEA Bargaining Support Work Team • Real v. Phony Reform • Bargaining Real Reform • CSD Goals • Seek a positive agenda • Position bargaining as a vehicle • Be visible • Communications (internal, external) • No steenkin’ ground rules

  3. Coordinated Bargaining • WEA Board Policy • How can you establish CBC goals to address these issues? • What strategies can you use with other CBC units? • How can you support surrounding locals?

  4. Contract Enforcement • Use the language you have to insist on productive working conditions and a quality education

  5. We can leave politics alone when politicians leave us alone… • School Board races • City/County? • Legislature (state/federal) • Governor • Candidate awareness • Communicate with politicians • They only know what they experience, or are told

  6. Social Media • Where do you get your information? • Where do the educators in your building get their information? • Where do the parents get their information? • Use as many ways of communication as you can sustain! • Opinions are changed with relationships and social media can enhance relationships

  7. Strategery • “If you don’t know where you’re going, any road will do.”

  8. What challenges are we facing now? • What outcomes do we seek?

  9. Who do you need to influence? • Who can you work with? • Who will oppose you?

  10. How can you inform and engage your members and community partners to take action? • What action steps can you take to move decision-makers toward your goals? • When will you take these steps? • What will happen if you do? • What will happen if you don’t?
