The 70’s. Events in the 70’s By: Alexa Fair. Jonestown Massacre 1978. The suicide and murder of 900 people who drank cyanide-flavored fruit drink. Who ever wouldn’t drink this flavored fruit drink would have to be shot by the leader But after all his people died the Leader shot himself.

  3. Jonestown Massacre 1978 • The suicide and murder of 900 people who drank cyanide-flavored fruit drink. • Who ever wouldn’t drink this flavored fruit drink would have to be shot by the leader • But after all his people died the Leader shot himself Kool-Aid:  Tastes Better With Cyanide!

  4. NASA and the Soviets send probes to Mars 1971 The NASA Mariner 9 became the first spacecraft to orbit another planet on November 14th. The Soviets Mars 2 and Mars 3 arrived a month later, and sent a probe down to the planet.

  5. Lebanon civil war begins 1975 • Sparked by Christians killing a busload of Palestinians and other Muslims, the country was quickly thrown into a war between the privileged Christians. Bang! Bang!

  6. Lunar Robots Rock n’Roll Early 1970’s • Soviet union was forced to abandon its efforts to send people to the moon. • Most severe blow came from the failure of Sergei Korolev’s gain N-1 moon rocket, but no one was harmed. The N-1 Rocket at lift off!!

  7. 4 Students Killed on University Campus in 1970 • May 4, 1970….National Guardsmen opened fire on a group of students, wounding many and 4 fatally • The campus of Kent State University Top- Left: Allison B. Krause Right: William K. Schroeder Bottom- Left: Jeffery G. Miller Right: Sandra L. Schruer Were some of the ones that were shot, but were the only ones who died.

There slogan had a donkey at the end, it said, Put A, Smile On Your (BUTT) These jeans were the original Stove Pipe jeans, about 12 inches wide all the way down.   15. Richard Nixon • Served in office from 1969 to 1974 • Born in Yorba Linda, Orange County, California • On January 9, 1913 Richard Nixon. • April 22, 1994 was the date of his death • He is the first president to almost be impeached.

  16. Jimmy Carter • On October 1 1924 Jimmy Carter was born. • He served as president from 1977 to 1981. • His vice president was. • Rosalynn Carter was his wife. • His party was the democratic.

  17. Evil Knievel • Born on 30 May 1967. • The most daring motorcyclists in the world. • His real name is Robert Craig Knievel. • He usually jumped in red, white ,and blue. • Most of his jumps took place in the 1970’s .

  18. Elton John • March 25, 1947, he was born. • Most of his music was popular during the 70s. • His first concert was in the 70s. • Rocket Man" and "Honky Cat," were huge hits. • His first top ten appearance.

  19. Peter Frampton • April 22, 1950, he was born. • Born in Beckenham, England. • He was 19 years old when he went on his own tour. • In 76 big labels were begging for Peter. • In 76 he was swimming in money. 70 million to be exact.

  21. Eagles One of the most famous musicians are the unbelievable Eagles !!! The band had many people come and go but, the people who were the stars of the Eagles were Don Henley and Glen Frey. One of their most famous albums of all time was Hotel California and on that album is the unforgettable Life in the Fast lane .

  22. Chicago Chicago produced over 20 albums thought the 70’s and 80’s. They were a rock band that had a big brass section which gave them a very unique sound but in a good way. They had several song writers and singers. They also had nearly 20! Band members. Over the years they had many hit records.

  23. Steely Dan Steely Dan had two main musicians , Walter Becker and Donald Fagan. Together the produced many albums and wrote many hit songs. At the beginning of their career they were rock then moved closer to Jazz. After 1973 they never went on tour, they were studio musicians.

  24. Aerosmith Aerosmith began in the 1970’s They were known for their hard rock and extreme loudness in concert. You come out of a concert deafffff !!! Two of their most famous song are Sweet emotion and Dream on They are still making music today.

AC/DC • Ac/Dc is a legendary band that hit big during the 70’s • In November of 1974 AC/CD released their first album, High Voltage. • It has been said by Angus Young that the name's origins are from the back of his sister Margaret Young's sewing machine. The acronym "AC/DC" stands for "Alternating Current/Direct Current" and refers to electrical currents. Angus Young liked the way that this name symbolized the band's energy and "High Voltage Rock'n'Roll".

Bellbottoms ,corduroy pants.” • What was a big fear at that time? “pretty much the same as today, people afraid of someone killing them.” • Was the food any different than it is today? “mc Donald's um it was not any different than it is today.” • Who was the presidents during the 70s? “Ronald Ragen, oh no he was not it was Richard Nixon, Jimmy Carter were the presidents.” • What where the best shoes? “converse all stars and dingo boots.” • Were all the TV shows in black and white? “color TV was coming of age.” • What did most kids do for jobs? “most kids worked at Publix and clothing stores • Was the “groovy” age over? “yeah” • What was the biggest sport? “football not to much soccer.” • What was minimum wage? “$2.30 an hour.” • What were the gas prices? “about $0.55.”

Because that is what they did” • What type of wardrobe did you wear?“Raged jeans, bellbottoms, and bright colored shirts.” • what special events happened during this decade that you strongly remember?“The hostages in Iran, and Jimmy Carter being elected.” • What were your interests during this decade? “BOYS, the beach because there, and the music.”
