  2. Conjunctions are words that join parts of a sentence.

  3. Types of Conjunctions: • Coordinating conjunctions • Subordinating conjunctions

  4. Coordinating conjunctions join sentences or phrases that are equally important. I went to the hospital and spoke to the doctor.

  5. An independent clause is a group of words that can stand alone as a sentence. Jacksaw a bat.

  6. Independent Clause: Dr. Max works here.

  7. Independent Clause: We heal sick people.

  8. Doctors and nurses need as much information as possible. We love dependent clauses because they give us more information about the main clause! Subordinating conjunctions introduce dependent clauses.

  9. A dependent clausecan’t stand alone as a single sentence. It relies on an independent clause to give it meaning. A dependent clause starts with a subordinating conjunction and is also called a subordinate clause.
