SAMDP Provider Network (SP Net) • Is a national network of General Practitioners (GP) affiliated to more than 21 Independent Providers Associations (IPAs) • Represents about 1 000 (GPs) spread all over the country; • Is an association of IPAs and GPs • Is an organisation associated with SAMDP
SP NX Management Services (SP NX) Pty Limited • provides services and manages contracts on behalf of SP Net. • has contracts with the medical industry players and other companies • is a legal persona (Pty Limited) • has been part of the broader GP national networks that is contracted to schemes • Has a PPP with the Department of Social Development managed by the South African Social Services Agency (SASSA)
The Business of SP NX • Provide comprehensive management services to all its affiliated IPAs • Provides an employment Agency role for doctors • Offer managed medical services to the industry and Contract on behalf of SP Net • Pursue business activities that emanates from the collective potential of its IPAs and providers • Provide education, information and support to doctors to optimize their function • Peer mentoring and management of its providers for all contracts.
Service offering to SP Net affiliates • Support of affiliated practices - negotiated various contracts on behalf of network - provided dispensing course and applied for dispensing license for all affiliates - Quality Assurance on contracts: Peer Review Process; - building network of providers, organise CPD meetings - monthly newsletters, electronic, SMS and other forms of communication - regular visits to the various IPAs - offer advise to practices, and represent them in disputes with medical schemes
Service offering to SP Net affiliates (Cont) • Provide complete integrated business solutions to affiliated practices • Practice management software (PMS), collection of accounts • Hardware and software supply, including Internet connection • Bureau services and complete management of practices • Setting up, and support of practices • Negotiate alternate reimbursement models for providers
Current contracts of SP NX • PPP with SASSA whereby its doctors assess members for Disability Grants (DG) and Care Dependency Grants (CDG) • A co-operative agreement with major GP networks on the market: ASAIPA, SAMCC; DFPA; and Primecure: these networks represent more than 70% of the GP Market. • It is one of the founding organizations of the IPA Foundation of SA (IPAF) • Procurement contracts with pharmaceutical suppliers: S Buys = medicines and the SOP manual
PPP with the South African Social Services Agency (SASSA) contract • Doctors do sessions and are paid a per patient assessment rate • More than 250 doctors have been trained to deliver this service • Contract started 15 May 2005 in Gauteng, it has now been extended to the Northwest province • Objective of SP NX is to extend these PPP to the other provinces, and to various government departments, including offering ARVS; and management of chronic illnesses and other services
