  1. PESE(Procedure for Entry to Secondary Education) Parents’ Meeting Friday 6th June 2014 http://www.kent.gov.uk/education_and_learning/school_education/applying_for_a_school_place/the_kent_test_eleven-plus.aspx

  2. Because we have grammar schools in Kent, children can take a test called the Kent test or eleven-plus. This test is taken by children in Year 6 at primary school who will be going to secondary school the following September, and if they pass, they will have the option of applying to go to a Kent grammar school. A grammar school can only offer a place to a child who has a grammar school assessment. Passing the Kent test does not guarantee that your child will be offered a grammar school place. Grammar schools can become over-subscribed in the same way as other schools. Coaching is not required or permitted in school.

  3. Tests Wednesday 10th September – note there will be one day of testing only. 2014 Test Format: Paper 1 English (5mins practice exercise+25mins test) and Maths multiple choice (5mins practice exercise+25mins test) Paper 2 Reasoning Skills multiple choice verbal reasoning non-verbal reasoning will be split into four sections, Writing exercise Short writing piece40 mins (inc. 10mins planning) This will be for reference purposes and will only be referred to in the event of a referral to the Head Teacher Panel. Other Grammar schools including: Dover Grammar School for Girls and Dover Grammar School for Boys will hold their own entrance assessments in addition. You will need to find out from the schools directly. DGSB / DGSG will hold their assessments on Saturday 13th September 2014.

  4. The pass mark varies slightly every year. To be automatically assessed suitable for grammar school in 2011's Kent 11+ process, a child needed to score a total of 360 or more in the tests, with no single score lower than 119. In 2012 no single score could be lower than 117. In 2013 - 118
