  1. Work-Package 5: MAMA-NETProgress of Work (months 13-24)Kostas NittisHellenic Centre for Marine Research – HCMR(NCMR-IMBC) Objective: • To initiate a data and information exchange system (Net-MedGOOS) that will support: • Exchange of operational metadata / data between agencies • Access to operational products for MAMA partners Partners: • NCMR, ENEA, IFREMER, IOLR, ICM, IOC, IMBC + new providers • IMC, IOI-MOC, NIB, DFMR, IMS-METU, CNR-S2AM, IOR, ANPA (users) MAMA Progress meeting, Malta January 2004

  2. WP5 Outline - Partner Role NCMR, ENEA, IFREMER IFREMER, ENEA, NCMR, IOLR, ICM/CSIC, IMBC + new contributions ENEA+ IOC+ • Task 5.1 Establish the basis of Net-MedGOOS • 5.1.1 Networking. Requirements and Standards • 5.1.2 Data / metadata exchange standards. Implement pilot network. • 5.1.3 Development of WWW interface • Task 5.2 Workshop on MDIM in the Mediterranean • 5.2.1 Presentation of IOC/IODE system • 5.2.2 Evaluation of data management and exchange functionality in MED • 5.2.3 Resource kit for oceanographic data and information management MAMA Progress meeting, Malta January 2004

  3. Progress of Work First Year (+12-14 months) • 5.1.1 Network basis: communication requirements and evaluation of existing capabilities (NCMR+) • Report (D8) Delivered: April 2003 Second Year • 5.1.2 Define sets of parameters and products to be exchanged, formats, protocols etc (IFREMER+) • 5.1.3 Develop a test network node - web/ftp site (ENEA+) - ongoing • 5.2 Workshop preparation (IOC+) Third Year • 5.1.3 Enrichment of MAMA-Net. Pilot operation / access to network. (Partners + ENEA) • 5.2 MDIM Workshop (IOC+) MAMA Progress meeting, Malta January 2004

  4. WP5 Schedule – Deliverables Rep on networking req. Recommendations – resource kit Pilot Net-MedGOOS MAMA Progress meeting, Malta January 2004

  5. Task 5.1.1: Networking basis • Data providers can support the data flow along MAMA-Net, since in almost all cases (9 out of 12) the Internet connection line speeds are over 1Mbit/sec. Even for providers that use lower speeds, no problems are foreseen for the pilot operation of MAMA-Net either because the amount of data is small or because the update frequency is low. MAMA Progress meeting, Malta January 2004

  6. Task 5.1.2: Final(?) list of products MAMA Progress meeting, Malta January 2004

  7. Task 5.1.2: MAMA-Net products • NCMR: NRT Buoy data (meteo, waves, t,s, …) M3A and Poseidon networks, Forecasting Products • ENEA: NRT VOS data (XBT) + ADRICOSM CTDs • IOLR: MedGLOOS station data • IMBC: Sea Level and R/S Data • ICM/CSIC: NRT R/S data • IFREMER: Archived Hydrology – Coriolis data centre products • OC-DFMR: R/S Data + forecasting products + MedGLOSS • UNIBO: OGCM outputs and forcing fields • IOI-MOC: MedGLOSS station data • NIB: PIRAN buoy data • IOR: ROSCOP data • INSTM: Archived Hydrology • IHM: Archived Hydrology MAMA Progress meeting, Malta January 2004
