  2. A LOOK AT THE AIRDOG LIFT PUMP • The Airdog lift pump maybe nowhere near as glamorous as a billet wheeled turbo charger, a second injection pump or a polished intake, but it is without doubt a very important component when it comes to the horsepower game. Apart from making big horsepower a reality, this lift pump also adds reliability to the entire fuel system, yields improved filtration over stock and provides infinite adjustability over fuel pressure. Nowadays, it is very rare to peer under a diesel powered pickup and fail to see an aftermarket lift pump system bolted on the frame rail.

  3. A LOOK AT THE AIRDOG LIFT PUMP • So what does the Airdog lift pump do? The job of this lift pump is to supply low pressure fuel from the tank to the injection pump on the car’s engine. If the injection pump is not supplied with low pressure fuel via the lift pump, it will have the extra job of pulling fuel away from the tank, which is usually the case in Duramax applications. When adequate diesel is not feeding into the low pressure side of the injection pump, its lifespan will reduce greatly. Prolonged fuel starvation will eventually lead to damage of the injection pump, and it may possibly hurt the injectors.

  4. A LOOK AT THE AIRDOG LIFT PUMP • So, when do you need an Airdog lift pump? Having a lift pump is a good idea any time you plan to pursue more power than what your vehicle made in stock form. Since the injection pump and the injectors are very crucial components in a diesel engine, ensuring that they are supplied with plenty of fuel keeps them cool, lubricated and in good working condition. In case your vehicle’s factory lift pump has seen better days, an aftermarket lift pump is the best possible upgrade.
