Challenges and Issues • Lack of Standardization • Lack of credibility • Lack of understanding of service sector – Definition • No interlink between ministry and institution • Not enough training and development for Human Resource and education system
Challenges and Issues • Environmental issues has been given enough attention • Government policies are not very open/friendly towards FDIs in service sector • Considerable part of service sector is based on speculative growth and not in real terms • Not enough support from government to service sector to grow
Challenges and Issues • Lack of basic infrastructure • Lack of measurement tools to measure productivity and impact of R&D in service sector • Difficult to compare with index/measurement – NCSI, ECSI, ACSI • Agreement on open data sharing – knowledge management
Challenges and Issues • Lack of data collection for benchmarking and comparison • System of data collection has not been standardized • Lack of innovation system model in service sector • Lack of marketing of service sector from government
Challenges and Issues • Complaint friendly culture is missing • Concept of acquiring customer’s loyalty is not yet the objective
Recommendations • Government have to come up with some policies related to the issues • APO should come up with policies guideline and example or best practice from other countries • Clear classification on services sector in order for easier data collecting, benchmarking and sharing • Government and organizations have to promote culture of accepting complaint • Government need to restructure organization to cope with the new challenges in service sector
Recommendations • Conduct regular evaluation and monitoring • Knowledge sharing is a must, in this era of information we do need to be careful though • More research , more programs on measuring services • Concentration on effectiveness and efficiency • Organize several meetings in order to enhance the productivity of service sector
