VLA-COSMOS - Project Outline 1.4 GHz imaging of a 1.4 deg x 1.4 deg field @ 10:00:28.6 +02:12:21 Major themes: • (dust-)obscured cosmic star formation history • evolution of the IR-radio correlation • evolution of low luminosity radio AGN to high z • search for time-variable radio sources • serendipity sources • absolute astrometry for COSMOS field http://www.mpia.de/homes/schinner/cosmos/cosmos.html

VLA-COSMOS - Major Features equatorial field (accessible for e.g. ALMA & EVLA, Keck & VLTs) full wavelength coverage: X-ray --> radio imaging & spectroscopy survey avoids bright sources (in radio) ==> allows for full census of faint radio population
VLA-COSMOS - Summary • Observations: -1.4 GHz VLA A-array finished - 1.4 GHz VLA C-array spring/summer ‘05 - reduction underway • Data Archive: - currently: VLA-COSMOS pilot data - A-array data: release early ‘06 • Science: - star formation history - evolution of AGN (radio galaxies) - evolution of radio-IR correlation
