Developing a sustainable train-the-trainer blended learning program enabling: understanding and upholding the principles and practices of the European Code of conduct for research Integrity contextualized ERI teaching across Europe training 3050 trainers in Europe by the end of the project building a community of ERI trainers

Target VIRT2UE Project For trainers that are experienced researchers themselves (305 ERI trainers– reaching 3050 European researchers) For trainers and trainees/researchers (ALL users of The Embassy!) 1) Offline Face to face training 2) Online (E-learning course- open access) educational tools and learning materials (Podcasts, Videos, Q&A…)

  8. Target VIRT2UE Project What is VIRT2UE about? Theoretical background: The train-the-trainer training will have a strong focus on training virtues and stimulate reflection on research integrity instead of a more rule-based approach that focuses on compliance

Core tasks Conceptual mapping - identify and rank the virtues which are essential for good scientific practice and their relation to the principles and practices of the ECoC (WP1) Understand existing capacity and deficiencies in ERI educational resources (WP2) Develop the face to face train-the trainer programme (WP3) Develop the online part of the train-the-trainer programme (WP4) Organize the train-the-trainer training in Europe (WP5) Iterative methodology - combining development and evaluation, and adapting the program on the basis of user input. (WP6)

Blended learning program 1) Face-to-face training -Learning by doing -Focus on real cases (own experience) -Facilitate group reflection on moral dilemmas in practice -Focus how to apply the content of the teaching material to concrete situations in daily practice 2) Online components –described on The Embassy -Theoretical knowledge (i.e. European Code of Conduct, ERI issues, Virtues etc…) -Input for part II face-to-face training (feedback, reflection forms, questions, learning goals) -Community of trainers (and trainees!)

What has been achieved (June 2018-June 2019) Report on the stakeholder focus groups on virtues (WP1) Report on stakeholder focus groups and report on the analysis of all existing educational material (WP2) Pilot of the face to face training in Athens (WP3) First draft on the introduction of the training & plan for the video’s (WP4) Protocol for & start with recruitment of trainees across Europe (WP5) Online evaluation of the face to face training and a pilot for the e-learning module (WP6) End of project: may 2021

Iterative self sustainable wiki Content will be edited and continuously updated and amended by a community of users The platform will: Use publically funded, open source, freely available software: (Semantic) MediaWiki Front end design by an award winning web design agency (Momkai) to ensure it is attractive and intuitive Enable content to be easily searched by using new techniques such as automatic text data mining and semantic analysis (FAIR)
