  2. Schedule for Tonight: • 6:15 – 7:00 p.m. – Grades 3 & 4 Classroom Visits • 6:30 – 6:50 p.m. – K, Grades 1& 2 Parent Meeting in Gym • 7:10 – 7:30 p.m.– Grades 3 & 4 Parent Meeting in Gym • 7:00 – 7:45 p.m. – K, Grades 1 & 2 Classroom Visits

  3. 2014-15 School Goals • Improve Reading Comprehension • Improve Application of Mathematical Skills • Improve the percentage of students who are tardy to school on a daily basis • To help foster EXCITEMENT within our students in regards to school and learning!

  4. What we’re up to at Paterson… • Common Core aligned curricula in English-Language Arts and Math • “Workshop” Model continues • Expanding our libraries of Non-fiction text. • MAP Assessments (grades 2,3, &4) will continue

  5. What we’re up to at Paterson… • Use of I-Pads continues • 3rd Grade will be using laptop computers on a regular basis • “Bucket Filling” initiative continues • School Families initiative continues…aligned this year with our “SECOND STEP” health curriculum

  11. Parent/Teacher Conferences • Information was sent home with your child yesterday! • September 23 & 24 (Optional) • Parent or teacher may request • Purpose: Informal opportunity to share information about your child

  12. Parent/Teacher Conferences • December 2, 3, & 4 • Purpose: To review student progress • March 24, 25, 26 (optional) • Parent or teacher can request • Purpose: To review student progress

  15. Select “JOHN PATERSON ELEMENTARY SCHOOL” from the drop-down menu…follow the prompts & continue to schedule appointments

  16. Choose child’s school and enter password JPsuccess1 • Enter your child’s ID number (or select LOOK UP) and verify birthday • Select the teacher’s/teachers’ schedule to view available appointments and select a time that works for you • If all else fails…Give us a call!

Special Education Alliance of Newington • WHAT IS SEAN? • SEAN is a PTO for people who have a stake in the education and advancement of children with • special needs. • SEAN promotes public understanding of special education and strives to enrich the lives of children. • SEAN can encompass an entire school district, an entire community or several communities. • SEAN exists to educate, support and empower parents and families. • WHO ARE SEAN MEMBERS? • Parents, family members, teachers, professionals, friends, and anyone • with an interest in advocating for children with special needs. • WHAT ARE THE GOALS OF SEAN? • To ENSURE that all children receive an education that enables them to reach their full potential. • To BRING TOGETHER parents, families and educators in order to share their experiences. • To INFORM parents about special education, including how to collaborate with their school team. • To EDUCATE legislators, school boards and the public about the importance of special education programs. • To IMPROVE the lives of children and families by providing for their cultural, social and physical enrichment. • Please visit our table at all open houses for more information.
