TheSwaziland tourmarkstheensemble'sfourthinternational USEmbassytourthisyear.Theywereinvitedin bytheUSEmbassies inEthiopia,Peruand JamaicainFebruary tohelp themhonor and celebrateBlackHistoryMonth.They performed several majorconcertsand contributed to community programssponsored by theEmbassyineachrespectivecountry. Oneofthemajorhighlightsoftheirvisit toSwazilandwill betheirdebutperformanceattheMTNBushfireFestival(May29-31)which willfeatureaspecial collaborationon twosongs(onebyeach artist)withnoted songwriter/singerFloewe(real nameFikileDhladhla)anativeofSwaziland..CNNrecentlynoted theFestival isoneofthetopseven"mustattend musicfestivals"inAfrica.EachyeartheFestivalattractsa diversified mixofgloballyrenowned artistsand performersthat"Bring TheirFire"foramulti-cultural and international audiencethatreaches20,000peoplestrong. Inaddition totheirheadlining performanceatBushfire,SweetHoneywill alsohost aworkshopand deliveranabbreviated performancefortheBushfireSchool Festival, whichfacilitatesworkshopsforover750 studentsfrom40schoolsand youthgroups,led byover60teachersthroughout themusicfestival. Sweet Honeywill hostaworkshopand performfor500highschool students(15-18)fromalloverSwaziland.TheSchoolFestival isdesigned tomotivateand fostersocial behavioral change,especiallyrelated toHIV.Theywill hostaworkshopand performfor350 studentsatElangeniHighSchoolduring theirvisit aswell. Sweet Honeywill alsoserveas guest performersataspecial welcoming receptionbyMakilaJames,theUSAmbassadortoSwaziland atherprivateresidence.Thereception will beattendedby localVIP's,dignitaries,artists,musiciansand poetswho will beperforming attheBushfireMusicFestival. Lastyear,SweetHoneymadetheirpremiereUSEmbassy tour(August27-31)as part of thelongstanding Arts Envoy programtoBelize.TheArts Envoy Programisa longstanding outreachprogramand initiativeby theUSStateDepartment. SWEETHONEYINTHEROCK,whichcelebrated their40thAnniversary lastyear iscomprisedofvocalistsLouiseRobinson, CarolMaillard, NitanjuBolade Casel,AishaKahlil,ShirleyChildress(AmericanSignLanguageInterpreter)and special guest acousticupright/electricbassplayerRomeirMendez.
