The Dead Zone • Between Florida and Mexico • Each year, oxygen-requiring aquatic organisms die • This is the Dead Zone • Because of pesticides
Grand Canyon • steep-sided canyon carved by the Colorado River in the Arizona • mostly located in the Grand Canyon National Park • One of the first national parks in U.S.A • President Theodore Roosevelt- major contributor to preservation of Grand Canyon
Nile River • Longest river in the world, at 4,180 miles. • Two major tributaries – the White Nile, and the Blue Nilem • White Nile is 2,300 mile long • Drains from Lake Victoria and flows northward to Khartoum, where it connects with the Blue Nile. • The Blue Nile flows south from Lake Tana, then west across Ethiopia, and northwest into Sudan.
Andes Mountains • The highest peak reaches about 22,831 ft. • Mt. Aconcagua • Takes up space in 7 different countries • Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Columbia, Ecuador, Peru, Venezuela
Galapagos Islands • Made from volcanoes • Plant and animal’s traveled thousands of miles to colonize the islands • That left species by themselves to grow on other islands • This had a big impact on the theory of evolution
Keplers 1st Law The orbits of the planets are ellipses with the Sun with earth orbiting the sun
Keplers law 2nd law • 2nd law-The line joining a planet to the Sun sweeps out equal area in equal times. -This means that the closer the planet is to the Sun, the faster it will travel.
Keplers law 3rd law • 3rd law-The square of the orbital period is directly proportional to the cube of the average distance between the Sun and the planet: - This means that the further the planet is from the Sun, the longer it takes to go around
