10.4.? SCINT 2015 Sponsorship Motion:The NPSS will provide full IEEE Sponsorship of the SCINT 2015 Conference under the auspices of the Radiation Instrumentation Technical Committee.
Background The International Advisory Committee of the SCINT conference series plans to hold the SCINT 2015 meeting in June 2015 in Berkeley, CA at the Hotel Shattuck Plaza. The meeting will be organized a team from LBNL: the the General Chair will be Bill Moses, the Assistant Chair Edith Bourret-Courchesne, and the Program Co-Chairs will be Steve Derenzo and Greg Bizarri. The organizers would like to have this conference be fully Financially Sponsored by the RISC & NPSS. The scope of the conference is the development and application of inorganic scintillators, the SCINT International Advisory Committee includes several present RISC members (Paul Lecoq, EtiennetteAuffray, Chuck Melcher, Craig Woody, and Bill Moses). SCINT has a reasonably long history with the RISC and NPSS - although the conference was first held in 1992, it has been Financially Sponsored (2007 only) or Technically Co-Sponsored by RISC/NPSS every time that it has been held since 2007 and it has published its proceedings in TNS since 2007. The RISC has voted unanimously in favor of financially sponsoring this meeting. On Feb 25, 2006, AdCom passed a motion reading, “To provide full IEEE Sponsorship of the SCINT 2007 Conference and Technical Co-Sponsorship of future SCINT Conferences under the auspices of the Radiation Instrumentation Technical Committee.” In the Background, it was noted “For future conferences, NPSS will be a technical cosponsor, but when the conference is held in the US, RITC will manage it. It may help NSS to get the SCINT dates on the IEEE calendar and people will work to keep the conferences separated in time as best possible.”
