High School College • 180 hours of instruction • Little or no time studying • Constant reminder of classes through homework & reading assignments • A’s & B’s without studying • Teacher Supported/Directed • 48 hours of instruction • Study 2 hours for every hour of class • No homework or reading assignments for every class • D’s and F’s without studying • Student Directed

  5. Course Numbering # 1-49: Non-degree Applicable (Foundation) • Eng 10 # 50 +: Associate’s of Arts Degree Applicable • Eng 50 # 100 + with CSU &/or UC designation: Transferable • Eng 100

  6. Units • 1 unit typically = 1 hour of instruction per week • 12 units = full time student • Study Time – 2 to 3 hours for every hour in class per week • Full Time school = 36 hours of class and study time (12 hours instruction + 24 hours study time)

  7. Requisites – aka Requirements • PRErequisite – Required prior to taking a course • CO-requisite – Required at the same time as taking another course
